IP RATING

IP RATING

IP (Ingress Protection) ratings classify the level of protection that the enclosure provides againstsolids and liquids entering into and damaging the equipment inside the enclosure. The ratingconsists of the letters IP followed by two digits, the higher the number the better the protection.

First Digit: SOLIDS (1-6)

The first digit tells you how effective the AE Stainless enclosure is at preventing solids getting in. This range is 0-6. Where 0 is equal to no protection. The digit is replaced with the letter X when insufficient data has been gathered to assign a protection level or if not applicable.

Second Digit: LIQUIDS  (1-8,9K)

The second digit shows how well the AE Stainless enclosure is protected from liquid damage. This can be anything from weatherproof or splash proof right up to fully waterproof. The range is from 0-8 (8 is user defined). The digit is replaced with the letter X when insufficient data has been gathered to assign a protection level or if not applicable.

Note: IPX9K is not an official AS standard, but is used especially by the food industry, who are using high pressure hot water to wash equipment down. IPX9K rated enclosures must withstand water at a pressure of 80 – 100 Bar, a flow rate of 14 – 16 LPM, with a water temperature: 80 °C
