AS/NZS STANDARDS
AS/NZS STANDARDS
AS/NZS 61439 is a series of standards for low voltage switchgear and control gear assemblies which replaced AS/NZS 3439.1: 2002 in 2021. This standard was introduced in 2016, with a 5-year transition period that expires in 2021.
The aim was to deliver a certified switchboard to the end customer, with input from the equipment OEM, the assembly manufacturer, the device manufacturer etc. The new standard clarifies all the responsibilities in specification, testing, design and build between the different parties.
AE Stainless Direct only build the enclosures (the sheet metal work) and therefore cannot certify items such as Clearances, Creepage distances, Incorporation of switching devices and components etc. However, AES will assist the Panel Builders with templates and calculations where required. For example, if the panel builder supply the heat load in the enclosure, AES will do the Temperature Rise Limit calculations and issue a certificate to the panel builder.
Short circuit verification
All AE Stainless Direct enclosures are rated to 10kA fault current.Short circuit verification is not required for fault currents under 10kA or when the board is protected by 17kA max current-limiting devices.
Note: AES can assist if supply fault current is more than 10kA.
